Story Trader — Khadim Ali in collaboration with Halima Qodirova

The mythical stories of Central Asia are not only epic memories of the past. They are messages that have been carried through time, like a river, leading us toward who we are becoming.

The Silk Road was one of the most multicultural corridors in human history. Not only a passage for the circulation of goods, silk and spices, it was also a conduit for sharing ideas, philosophies, languages, instruments, recipes, melodies and poetry. Stories travelled this road: translated, reshaped and reborn.This performance, presented as a vocal and musical duet between the artist and musician and  traditional instruments trader Halima Qodirova, is an act of restoration. We are brushing away the dust of history, to allow these melodies to echo again inside the domes and walls of the city's bazaar,  built by the ancestors who once sang them.

It is not nostalgia.
It is continuity.
