Bukhara Biennial
How large is Bukhara Biennial?
The entire biennial occupies approximately 35,000 square metres and without stopping, takes about 10 minutes to walk from one side to the other. Over 70 projects will be presented, with satellite projects taking place in the city.
What are the opening hours?
Tuesdays to Sunday: 10am to 10pm (September) / 10am to 8pm (October and November).
Artworks presented in public spaces accessible year-round, such as streets, are available to view at any time.
How will you manage potential overcrowding at busy times?
Bukhara Biennial guides will help manage the flow of visitors and capacity will be monitored to avoid overcrowding.
Is the Bukhara Biennial wheelchair accessible?
The biennial takes place in a Culture District with newly pedestrianised areas inspired by the city’s past as a meeting point for pilgrims. All of the locations within the district are restored, historic landmarks and wheelchair access is limited across several of them.

Yes, there are public toilets in the district (indicated on the map distributed on site)
Who is the organiser?
Bukhara Biennial is spearheaded by the Uzbekistan Art and Culture Development Foundation (ACDF) and its Chairperson, Gayane Umerova acting as Commissioner.
How are the curator and participants selected?
For the inaugural edition, ACDF appointed the Artistic Director Diana Campbell and artists were invited to participate.
